Hey, readers! So, we have just decided to take a 5-day trip to Madrid after my sister-in-laws wedding in England right after New Year’s. The wedding was unexpectantly moved up 6-months and so our trip to Mexico has probably been put off (we can’t really afford those two trips in 6 months!). So, luckily, it is very cheap to fly within Europe (shout out to Easy Jet and Ryan Air) and we’ll be in London for the wedding.
The point of this Saturday post is to see if any readers have some pointers, tips, non-touristy things to do, places to eat, must-sees, only-in-Madrid types of things to tell us about. We are really excited to go, but our research will only go so far since the holidays are coming up and we don’t have much time. So, calling all intelligent travelers, lovers of food and drink – any ideas?
Thanks so much in advance and have a great weekend!!

It has been a very long time since I’ve lived in Madrid, but a restaurant called El Botin should be a must. Don’t let the fact that many tourist go there stop you. The food was fantastic when I was there and people that I know that have been recently still find it outstanding. The building it occupies is fantastic – I won’t give anything away. Plaza Mayor is right around the corner, cool place.
If you are into the party scene check out Calle Orense, a strip of clubs and bars in which I’m sure you will find anything you like.
Hope that helps a little.
